Door Supervisor - Basic Job
Training
To Qualify for PSA Registration in line with NSAI IS.999:2004
ISTA has been established since 1997 researching, developing
and delivering The Door Supervisor and other BJT (Basic Job Training)
courses. ISTA have been the forerunners in establishing and maintaining
standards in the Door Supervisors industry.
Today's Door Supervisor works in an extremely challenging environment.
Never before has change been so rapid. Door Supervisors are the
first point of contact with the patron. They often have to make
difficult judgement calls. Professionalism, vigilance, diplomacy,
knowledge of the law and public relations are just some of the
onerous tasks undertaken on a nightly basis.
Course Content Includes:
- Introduction to the Security and Leisure industries
- Roles and Responsibilities of the Door Supervisors and Door
Stewards
- Customer Care and Social Skills
- Risk Awareness
- Equal Opportunities and Discrimination legislation
- Health and Safety legislation (National and European)
- Licensing legislation (including the Intoxicating Liquor Act
2003)
- Civil and Criminal law
- Arrest Techniques and Procedures
- Searching
- Drugs and Drugs Awareness
- Emergency Procedures
- Incident and Crime Reporting
- Fire Training
Course Duration & Format;
- 16 hours -The training takes place over two days or four evenings.
- Written assessment at the end of the course. Supports are
available for students with literacy and learning difficulties.

Qualification:
The Door Supervisor Basic Job Training course is certified by;
Registration:
Successful completion of the Door Supervisors Basic Job Training
qualifies for registration with the Private Security Authority
(PSA). Registration of individuals for Licence with the PSA will
commence in April 2006. Licence Fees include an Administration
Fee of €20, plus a Sector Fee of €110. ISTA will assist
in processing the Licence Application.
