Close Protection Security Training
City & Guilds 1903 Level 3
ISTA has been established since 1997 researching, developing and delivering The Door Supervisor and other BJT (Basic Job Training) courses. ISTA have been the forerunners in establishing and maintaining standards in the security industry.
The ISTA will be providing SIA approved Close Protection training starting in April 2010. Our fully approved City & Guilds course will certify learners in Close Protection, Conflict Management and First Person On Scene Medical Training which are all the requirements under the new SIA licensing criteria.
The course is run by certified City & Guilds instructors with years of experience in Close Protection, ranging from military and police units to the private security sector.
Course Content Includes:
- Assess level of threats and risks to principals
- Plan and prepare to minimise threat and risk to principals
- Liaise and communicate with principals and others
- Establish and maintain secure environments
- Maintain the safety and security of principals whilst mobile
- Respond to medical crises
- Respond to conflict
Course Duration & Format:
- 16 days
- Written assessment at the end of the course. Supports are available for students with literacy and learning difficulties. All Learners information will be treated with the upmost confidentially. For further information, contact the Course Administrator.
Training Course Details:
We are the only training provider with a FAS approved Close Protection course and were the first approved City & Guilds centre in the country to offer this course.
Our course is in line with the new SIA licensing criteria which require individuals applying for a licence to have 3 certificates. And approved Close Protection Course, an approved Conflict Management Course and an approved First Aid Course. The certification we provide on successful completion of the course is as follows:
- City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection (1903)
- City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Conflict Management (1884)
- First Person On Scene (IHCD)
The all inclusive course price is €3300 and includes:
- All certification and exam fees
- Accommodation at 4* Hotel
- All meals
A deposit of €600 is required to secure your place. The remainder must be paid prior to course commencement
The Close Protection course may be eligible for some FAS or social welfare funding as I-RMS are on the national register of trainers.

City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection (equivalent FETAC Level 6)
City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Conflict Management (Equivalent FETAC Level 4)
HSA First aid certification (Equivalent FETAC level 5 OFA)
The course fee also includes all accommodation, meals and travel for the 16 days of the course
The course will be run from the I-RMS training grounds in Moyvalley, in Enfield Co. Kildare, just 35 minutes from Dublin City Centre. Students will be assessed on a continuous basis throughout the course and on their course workbook. Live exercises will also be assessed. The cost of the course is €3300This includes accommodation, meals, certification in Close Protection, Conflict Management and First Person On Scene
